Who MIMB is for¶
Mastodon is My Blog (MIMB) is for people who already like Mastodon, but do not like how much effort it can take to read well inside a fast-moving stream.
A good fit¶
MIMB is a good fit if you:
- treat Mastodon as a place for thoughtful writing, not just quick reactions
- want to read people one at a time instead of in a giant blended timeline
- follow niche topics and wish Mastodon handled them better
- want local control instead of handing everything to a third-party hosted dashboard
- manage more than one Mastodon identity
Especially useful for¶
Personal bloggers¶
If your posts are closer to mini-essays, note collections, or self-threaded writing, MIMB's Storms view will probably feel natural.
Curators and link collectors¶
If you like finding software, articles, jobs, or images through people you trust, the Content area is one of MIMB's best ideas.
Multi-account Mastodon users¶
If you split your life across a main account, art account, work account, or interest-specific accounts, MIMB can keep them under one local setup.
Probably not a good fit¶
MIMB may not be the right tool if you want:
- a fully hosted, no-install service
- the exact same experience as your Mastodon server
- every Mastodon feature in one place today
- a polished social media team workflow
Current maturity¶
MIMB is usable, but still clearly growing. Expect a mix of:
- solid core ideas
- practical local workflows
- some rough edges
- some pages and filters that are still improving
That is exactly why this handbook focuses on what to expect, not just what buttons exist.
